Five Tips for Perfect Wedding Makeup – Guest

Ahhh wedding season. If you are like me, you’ve had more weddings this year than any other year so far. And while I would love to get my makeup and hair professionally done for each wedding I attend, those services tend to be pricey! So we’ve done some research and put together some tips and tricks to achieve perfect wedding makeup as a guest. Looking for a guide as a bride? Check out our most recent blog post here.

Tip #1 – Prep, Prep, Prep!

Especially for a bigger event (and one where you know there will be a lot of pictures!) you’ll want to spend some extra time prepping your face for makeup application. Prepping your skin will do wonders for helping your makeup last longer. To start, make sure you are applying moisturizer the night before. Then on the day of, mix your daytime moisturizer with either a glow primer or liquid highlighter to give your skin an extra glow. Skindinvia’s primer spray is also a great option to apply after moisturizer as it’s lightweight and provides a smooth surface for the rest of your makeup application. When choosing a foundation, reach for a long wear foundation option so that you don’t have to worry about constantly touching up.

Tip #2 – Don’t Overdo it on the Color

A wedding is not the time or a place to try an “out there” trend or go bold with color (unless the bride approves, of course!) That’s also not to say that color isn’t allowed – just don’t overdo it. Choose one makeup product with color, whether that’s with your lipstick, eyeshadow, or blush. Then make everything else neutral. You don’t want to stick out when it comes to your makeup – so if you really want to go bold focus instead on an amazing dress or cool hairstyle to complement your look.

Tip #3 – Choose a Peachy Lip Shade

Similar to the tip above, don’t choose a dark color for your lips. Especially in the summer months, opt for a fun shade of pink or peach! To make sure your lips hold the color over the course of the evening, moisturize your lips by applying lip balm or chapstick, then swipe your lip color. You can then either add a lip plumper or gloss if you’d like to add a little extra shine. Confused about all the lip products there are out there? Tip #4 – Keep it Summery and Sun-Kissed

It’s always nice to have a sun-kissed makeup look, especially for a summer wedding. Neutral tones in warm browns and golds look amazing when paired with a blended shimmery bronzer.

Tip #5- Use Finishing Spray

Let’s face it – you’ll be doing a lot of sipping, snacking, and dancing over the course of the evening, and the last thing you’ll want to do is touch up your makeup throughout the night. To keep your look locked in place from ceremony to reception, use finishing spray after you’ve applied all of your face makeup. Skindinavia’s finishing spray is waterproof and sweatproof, so rest assured you will be smudge free all night – even if you shed some tears during the vows!
