Spring Makeup Trend to Try: Floating Eyeliner

When you think of Spring Fashion Week, it’s no surprise that the hottest styles of the season get noticed the most. But, it’s just as much fun to take a closer look at all the creative and inspiring makeup looks too.  Spring is all about bringing color back to life and this year makeup artists weren’t afraid to experiment with bright hues. Models’ eyes popped because of the funky use of color applied to their eyes.

At Dior, models eyelids were painted in multi colored eye shadow that resembled the rainbow. Fendi took eyeliner to a whole new level with patchwork fabric lining the lower lid. Then, there was the floating eyeliner at Michael Kors, which is probably the most wearable for the every day woman. Still, we’re not sure if floating eyeliner is office appropriate just yet. We’d suggest trying it for a concert or a girl’s night out.

Makeup artist Dick Page debuted the alluring new eyeliner look for Michael Kors Spring runway line. He created this interesting makeup trend by drawing a single line turquoise or green eyeliner of color onto the eyelid, and above the crease of the eye in a straight line. It’s a simple use of color that is both crazy and cool at the same time.

Tips To Create Your Own Floating Eyeliner Look:

Tilt your chin up. Look down into the mirror so you can see your lids. Now draw a blue line across the middle of each lid, following the shape of the crease.

Pencil is boldest. Retrace your line once or twice to even out the color, but don’t make it too wide or it will look like a mistake. Lancome Khol in Love in Jade Crush ($26)

For a more subtle approach use powder. It’s the least showy option especially if you blend it with a shadow brush. Try L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Eye shadow Quad in Blue Haute Coutoure. $8
