No Sweat Outdoor Makeup Looks

With the onset of higher temperatures this spring and summer, it’s natural to want to get outside and participate in some outdoor activities. While finding a cute active outfit to wear may be a breeze, what may be a bit more of a challenge is figuring out what makeup to apply that won’t rub, sweat, or wipe off your face. We’ve gathered a list of tips and tricks to try for your spring outdoor activity – whether that’s a hot girl walk, a kayaking excursion, or laying out at the park.

Outfit and Makeup Combos for Outdoor Spring Activities

For Your Next Hot Girl Walk

Ever since Tinx introduced me to the RMW (Rich Mom Walk) and HGW (Hot Girl Walk) my life hasn’t quite been the same. While I’m used to going on walks, I love grabbing a girlfriend, a cute water bottle, and my Lulu fanny pack after work and going on a casual outdoor walk on a trail in my neighborhood. Might as well take advantage of the nice spring weather, get a nice little workout, and look cute doing it right?

As for an outfit, try a walking dress like this cute one from Outdoor Voices, or this budget-friendly Amazon option . And if wearing a dress on a walk seems way too extra for you? No worries at all – the Free People Way Home shorts are a classic go-to . Don’t forget to pair with your LuluLemon Everywhere Belt Bag and a cute water bottle

As for makeup, try the barely-there makeup trend while still looking cute (hey, you never know if your walk will lead to margaritas at the patio bar off the trail!)

Apply tinted moisturizer or light foundation, making sure to choose an option with SPF unless you plan on also applying sunscreen. Depending on the outfit you choose, apply subtle eyeshadow in the same shade of your dress or shorts. Swipe on some light blush and a tinted lip balm (we love this Glossier lipshine combo!) and you’ll be ready for wherever your walk leads you!

For Your Next Water Sports Activity

Nothing screams summer like an outdoor water activity like paddle boarding, kayaking, or even floating in the river. While the water still may be a bitttt chilly to dive in, you want your outfit and makeup to be water-resistant, just in case you fall in. Might I suggest one of the cute swimsuits on Summersault (check out this one piece leopard one). Pair with some high waisted shorts, some cute sunnies, and a bucket hat! I’m currently obsessed with this reversible one from Alice + Olivia.

Opt for minimal makeup since you most likely will work up a sweat. Tinted moisturizer (make sure there’s SPF girlies!) along with a swipe or two of waterproof mascara and you should be set. And here’s a pro tip: since waterproof mascara can be especially pesky to remove, try our makeup remover spray at the end of your day or after your shower to ensure all of your products are removed from your face!

For Your Day in the Park

My friends and I spent quite a bit of time in the park during the pandemic, and during a recent nice day we went back for a day of lounging, snacking, and yard games. It was so much fun! Unless you plan on participating in a sports activity like football or spike ball, whip out a cute romper, your picnic blanket (check out this cute budget-friendly option from Amazon), and a straw visor (we dig this one from Free People) and you’re all set. Pair with some cute earrings and one of these spring makeup trends and make sure you capture a cute pic – #outdoorsy! Bonus points if you snap a selfie with a cute dog.

For Your Patio Brunch

Not all outdoor activities have to be active, right? It’s time to take full advantage of the nice weather and enjoy some sippin’ and snackin’ on an outdoor patio. Take this opportunity to try out one of your trendy outfits – such as some wide leg pants, that jumper you’ve been wanting to whip out, or a crop or tube top! As for outfit options, we are obsessed with this off-the-shoulder top from Anthropologie – it’s super flattering! Pair with some high waisted jeans (like these from Abercrombie & Fitch) and a bold accessory like a fun scarf or statement earrings.

For your makeup, try out one of the biggest makeup trends of the spring season – statement blush! Don’t be afraid to try out a brighter shade such as peach or hot pink. We are even seeing purple and yellow blush on the runway! To complement bold blush, tone down the rest of your look with nude lips and creamy eyeshadow. See our inspo below.

Whatever outdoor activity you choose to participate in this spring/summer, we hope that you have a safe and enjoyable time! Don’t forget the SPF!
