How to Get Kelly Clarkson’s CMA Awards Makeup Look

Among the fortunate country music artists heading home with a trophy, Kelly Clarkson proudly raised hers up in the air at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.  She accepted the award alongside alongside Jason Aldean for the Vocal Event of the Year honor for their collaborative song, “Don’t You Wanna Stay”.

Aldean told the crowd he trusted his instincts when he was trying to sort out what to do with “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” which became a steamy, soaring duet that shows he is capable of keeping up vocally with Clarkson. It meshed the duo single record and vocal event of the year.

“I kind of thought it needed a female vocal on it and Kelly was the first name I threw out,” Aldean told the audience. “And I’m really glad I did because she came in and made a great song, and just took it to a great place.” Clarkson added, “Thank y’all so much for welcoming me from the pop world!”

Not only did she pick up the Single of the Year award with Jason Aldean for “Don’t You Wanna Stay” at the Academy of Country Music Awards, she looked good while doing it. She wore a gorgeous red dress that was the perfect complement to her brown chestnut hair and bangs. She kept her makeup very natural with a brown smoky eye and peach lips.

How to Get Kelly Clarkson’s CMA Awards Makeup Look

When wearing smoky eyes, Kelly balances it with a soft pink lip stain that has given her lip a very natural flush that doesn’t wear off.  To copy Kelly Clarkson’s 2012 CMA Awards look, apply a cream concealer like Iman’s Second to None Cover Cream over your eyelid to create a smooth base for your eye shadow. Use a pencil liner (black or gray looks best) to trace your top lashline from the inner corner to the outer. Then, use the same pencil to dot between your lower lashes. Smudge both lashlines with a cotton swab or an eyeliner brush. Next, sweep a dark brown powder shadow over your lid and into your crease, blending the color up and outward. Bobbi Brown’s Slate shadow is a great one to try. Finally, dust a lighter, neutral eyeshadow (such as ivory) over just your browbone and finish with some volumizing mascara like Dior’s Diorshow Mascara in black. As always finish with Skindinavia finishing spray for a makeup look that lasts.

Most performers like Kelly Clarkson need to use a makeup finishing spray so that their makeup lasts!

Dancing around for hours under bright lights on stage can pay a toll on makeup. Through all the sweat and temperature fluctuations makeup starts to fade, sweat off and become shiny, but there are a few tricks celeb performers use to keep their makeup intact and looking flawless. One top trick is setting makeup with a makeup finishing spray – top makeup artists to Gaga and Rihanna really love Skindinavia. It’s been used on Hollywood sets for years and has been the secret weapon in every tool kit of the stars. Just a few sprays helps to keep makeup intact for up to 16+ hours.
