Best Makeup Looks at the 2013 MET Gala

The 2013 Met Gala brought with it some enviable fashion and makeup looks to celebrate the opening of the museum’s new exhibit, Punk: Chaos to Couture. Unlike the more sophisticated events like the Golden Globes or Academy Awards, the MET Gala is a night for the best and brightest celebs to take risks and show off their daring, funky sides. And boy did they show us.

Here’s our pick for favorite makeup looks of the night:

While we think Kristen Stewart’s jumpsuit may have been a little over the top, her red eye makeup definitely impressed us. The burgundy hue over Kstew’s eyes created a dark, punk rock vibe that demanded attention. Her sleeked back hair added emphasis to her eyes.  Here’s what her makeup artist, Beau Nelson had to say about creating the sexy burgundy eye makeup look:

“On her eyes I used CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Framboise as a creme shadow to define the shape and create a strong red base to apply the shadow to. I then used a mix of CHANEL Powder Blush in Pink Explosion, the burgundy shadows from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Eclosion and the grey shadow from CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Misty-Soft to smoke up the eye, then lined the inner rim with a black pencil.”

Jessica Pare has made it on several worst dressed looks of the night, but we really think her bold blue eye shadow all the way up to the brow bone was a perfect accent to her navy Jason Wu ensemble. The 32-year-old MadMen actress dolled up in a Jason Wu top, pants, shoes, and clutch, complete with Delfina Delettrez jewelry. Her hair pulled back in a center part enhanced the modern feel of the gown and we thought her intense blue eye shadow was the perfect shade of navy to complete the look without being too matchy-matchy.

And now for a more toned down look, Nina Dobrev looked stunning in a custom-made Monique Lhuillier dress and dramatic silvery cat eye. The Vampire Diaries star completed her sexified look with layers of black eyeliner extended outward to form a cat eye on top of a silver eye shadow, which was also swiped under the lash line. She stole the spotlight and is certainly one of our favorites of the night.
