Give us a little background on yourself.
I have been in the industry for about 30 plus years. I am a mother, wife, caregiver, educator, author, and film and television Department Head makeup artist; an all-around 'beautypreneur'. I am passionate about what I do. I have worked most areas of the industry, except fashion. My passion lies in film and television along with educating up-and-coming artists or those who might be at a stalemate with their careers. As a global educator, I have presented master classes in Japan, France, Trinidad, Brazil, Barbados, and many parts of the USA and Canada. As a department head and personal makeup artist, I have had a chance to work on many classic film and TV projects as well as some pretty iconic personalities, like Cindy Crawford, Angela Bassett, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Jean Smart, Whoopi Goldberg, Ellen Barkin and numerous others. Not many can boast about this, but I can, Tina Turner did my makeup. Yes, that’s what I said.
What is your philosophy when it comes to makeup?
I am a filmmaker and a storyteller so, my approach to makeup is that it needs to reflect the character's personality and lifestyle. My work is essentially "character-driven"
