Give us a little background on yourself.
J Anthony's passion for makeup began in 2004 in San Antonio Texas, he has had the opportunity to work for several cosmetics lines including Dior, Smash box, Laura Mercier, Nars and MAC. In 2020 J Anthony felt there was something missing in the world of beauty and with the help of some colleagues created Glam Haus Collective, a group of hair and makeup gurus. G.H.C was formed to unite beauty pros together and offer exceptional hair styling and makeup artistry to clients. “We’re a collective, we support one another and always eager to learn and grow in our craft, to deliver camera-ready Glam on all our clients”- J Anthony. With over 15 years of makeup artistry experience, magazine publications, and several photoshoots, he brings creativity and dedication to beautifying everyone he lays his brushes on.
What drew you to a career in makeup?
My mother and America's Next Top Model. As a child, I used to watch my mother get ready for her day, and when she put on that perfect shade of lipstick it was like she was unstoppable. Strong powerful and ready to take on the world. When America's Next Top Model aired, I saw that confidence again, these beautiful and unique women being transformed into Glamazons, I knew that I wanted to be the one yielding a brush and unleashing the inner diva of all my clients.
What are some of your notable and/or favorite projects?
1883 is the first to come to mind, I was hired as a makeup assistant and helped get 400+ extras ready for huge scenes. It was amazing. The second is the Dolce and Gabbana fashion show in 2019. It was amazing. I loved it.
