Give us a little background on yourself.
I am a makeup artist and skincare therapist specializing in bridal, special events, and personal services. I want my clients to feel as beautiful as they look, feel confident and empowered. Joya beauty was born in 2002. The word Joya has a special personal meaning for me. My family always greeted me by saying "Joya Joya it is so good to see you." That is how I want my clients to feel and remember me.
What drew you to a career in makeup?
I come from a long corporate career. Good job but just a job No passion, no relationships. I always loved makeup and skincare and felt so connected to the people in my life who took great care of me. My brides are my legacy. It is an honor to attend to them. When they look in the mirror and see how beautiful they look it brings such joy. Makeup is a calling, not just a job.
What are some of your notable and/or favorite projects?
Other than weddings every weekend, I have had the pleasure of seeing my work on the covers of regional wedding publications.
