Give us a little background on yourself.
I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I've always had a love for makeup, even as a little girl. My love for makeup started to flourish when I started competing in pageants in high school. I eventually went to Miss USA in 2016 as Miss North Carolina USA. I began to dance for the Charlotte Hornets in 2015 and, as a dancer, we were in charge of doing our own hair and makeup for all of the games and events. So, after much trial and error, I learned what products would last throughout the long game days—Skindinavia’s setting sprays have always been my go-to!
Once I finished dancing, I started my career as a full time makeup artist. My focus is pageants, weddings, and photoshoots but, I’d like to think I do a little bit of everything! I personally love makeup to enhance peoples natural beauty and like to call my style “everyday glam” because it’s more elevated than your average day to day look but my clients still look and feel like themselves!
What drew you to a career in makeup?
I've always had a love for makeup but, probably when I started pageants my senior year of high school and then when I danced in the NBA. I didn't think about it being a career until I had stopped dancing and competing, I graduated college and it sort of fell in my lap!--- Fate!
What is your philosophy when it comes to makeup?
Makeup can be anything you want it to be. You can use it to enhance your natural beauty, to re-shape your face, and to express yourself creatively. Makeup is absolutely an art form than everybody can be apart of!
What do you think makes makeup so special in our world?
For the everyday makeup wearer, makeup creates confidence and helps you be more comfortable in the skin you're in. For the makeup artist, makeup helps channel your creativity, your artistic juices, and allows you to be a part of so many peoples lives and their most special moments!
What are some of your notable and/or favorite projects?
I was honored to do the late Cheslie Kryst's makeup for her Miss USA homecoming party. I've worked with Hannah Brown, Victoria Paul, Eliza and Ansley Minor.
