Give us a little background on yourself.
As owner and lead makeup artist of Star Makeup Studio for twelve years, I have provided makeup artistry, skincare, and hairstyling services to TV, film, advertising, print, and fashion clients in the greater Washington, DC area. I am a licensed esthetician in Virginia. In addition to my business, I have done volunteer work with the Look Good Feel Better Foundation, a public service program helping people with cancer manage the appearance-related side effects of their treatment.
Over the years, I have developed my own unique makeup style that emphasizes clean, healthy, and fresh skin looks with eye-catching glamour touches. Skindinavia Primer and Finishing Sprays are a staple of my makeup kit because they help me build a perfect canvas for a clean and long-lasting makeup look.
What drew you to a career in makeup?
I discovered my passion for makeup and beauty in my hometown of Caracas, Venezuela where I was inspired by the creativity and talent of the hair and makeup staff at my family’s beauty salon, Stravaganza Style. It was there that I took my first makeup course and started working on weekends to develop my skills. Since moving to the US and completing my formal makeup training, I have taken numerous master classes and seminars, and I have been privileged to work with some of the leading makeup artists from New York and Los Angeles. These incredibly talented artists continue inspiring me to develop my artistry.
