The entertaining and extravagant Dancing with the Stars show is jam packed with Hollywood starlets, pro athletes, singers and of course pro dancers every season. Contestants sweep the floor in head-to-toe jaw dropping wardrobe and makeup for their performances. Aside from the talent on the dance floor, real talent also lies behind the curtains with an amazing makeup and hair team. One being Emmy Award-winner makeup artist Zena Shteysel. She pills her backstage beauty secrets to E Online – mastering glitter eye makeup, infinitely long lashes and who her favorite contestant was!
Fall Out-Proof Glitter Eyes
“When applying glitter on the lids, we use eyelash adhesive first to prevent glitter fall out.”
(Now you know…If your primer hasn’t done the trick for you move on lash adhesive.)
Long & Thick Lash Trick
“We use three to four pairs of lashes for one look.”
(Zena likes using Ardell lashes – pile on those falsies!)
A Pro Must-Have
Another trick used backstage by the DWTS makeup team? Z Palettes. They are customizable  cases you can fill with your choice of pans (instead of lugging around a zillion palettes and products, ideal!)  “We use Z Palettes filled with the products we used to create the looks to keep on hand backstage for fast touch-ups during commercial breaks. “
Zena chose Disney starlet Zendaya as her favorite contestant to work with. She said, “Zendaya Coleman was a favorite of mine to work on. She was the youngest contestant on Dancing with the Stars, however, extremely poised and mature. She is very confident and let me be creative with her makeup looks week after week.”
