Ahhh, work holiday parties. With COVID surges taking place the last two winters, this may be the first time you are heading back to the office for a holiday party in a while. Well, it’s time to dust off your holiday dresses, tights, booties, and sparkly eyeshadows! We’ve put together a guide for classic holiday party makeup looks for you to rock this season.
Classic Holiday Party Look – a Red Lip
There’s nothing more classic than a bold red lip. It works especially well during the holidays, as reds are in! Whether you’re rocking red in your attire or not, red lips make a statement but are perfect for a holiday party. While it may be a bit too bold for a normal day at the office, for a work party it’s perfectly acceptable. This year, we are seeing both matte and glossy finishes. However, this year we recommend rocking a dark-brick shade instead of the cheery cherry shade that you immediately think of.
To make your lipstick last all night, we recommend spritzing both a makeup primer spray before application and then a makeup finishing spray to lock in your lip color all night. The sprays at Skindinavia will prevent your lipstick from smudging – even if you are snacking and sipping the night away!
Red Nails
Red nails are definitely having a moment. Have you seen the TikTok trend? The classic 90s nails rocked by your mom and your favorite elementary school teachers are coming back in full force. While bright red is popular, feel free to choose a shade of red that makes you the most comfortable – whether that’s a ruby red or a more muted maroon shade. We are seeing almond and coffin as the most popular shape. But again, feel free to go with the shape that makes you feel the most comfortable. You’re sure to get compliments during your holiday party!
Sparkly Eyeshadow
It’s hard not to want to apply sparkly, glittery eyeshadow during the holiday season. This year, instead of opting for all over sparkle, try highlighting your eye with small flecks of glitter. We are seeing a lot of the classic colors of gold and silver in cream formulas. Most are super easy to just apply with your finger – no brush needed!
Holiday Party Look Attire
Your get-together may not be during work hours, but know that your office holiday party look still needs to be appropriate. While we don’t encourage you to go full on business casual, make sure you are mindful about how much skin you are showing. While wearing a more tight fitting dress or showing a bit of cleavage is acceptable, make sure you don’t go too crazy. Velvet wrap dresses are having a moment and are always a fun option. You could also opt for a corset top with a fun, oversized blazer. Skirts or skorts with over-the-knee boots are popular this season too! Make sure you check the invite for any dress attire and event details.
We hope you enjoy your work event! Know that it’s the only time that it’s acceptable to show up fashionably late and drink on the job!
