Ahhh, spring. There’s something magical about ditching your heavy jacket and feeling the sun hit your skin that can instantly put you in a happy mood. I don’t know about anyone else, but the first second I feel a warm front, the shades come on and the sundresses come out (even if I know I’ll be freezing later when the sun goes down). It’s a fun time of year and your clothes and your makeup should embrace the cheeriness and playfulness of the season. In the spirit of the equinox this week, we’ve compiled a list of the hottest spring makeup trends for 2022.
Five Spring Makeup Trends
Makeup Trend #1 – Neon Eyes
Your spring clothes tend to all be in bright colors, so why not rock makeup that complements that? Neon colors such as pinks, oranges, and even bright greens and blues have been seen on the runways this season. You can opt for a classic all over bright color, or try something fun like Dua Lipa’s double cat eye look that she rocked in the Versace fashion show. It’s a look that’s sure to “wow” and make a statement.
Makeup Trend #2 – Embellished Eyes
Wow. We love this look. It’s sure to be a statement and automatically draws attention to your eyes. To try it out, simply apply small rhinestones around your eyes. Look for a pack of crystals that have self-adhesive backs. And if you don’t want to go crazy with the sparkles off the bat, dip your toes in by trying the viral TikTok trend of applying just four crystals around your eyes. Makeup Trend #3 – Fresh Faced Dewey Skin
What screams spring more than a fresh faced, sun-kissed complexion? A lot of runway shows this past season showed models with barely-there makeup. To start, we suggest opting for a tinted moisturizer or a super light foundation. This trend is great for those that don’t like to typically wear a lot of face makeup and is all about letting your natural beauty shine. Makeup Trend #4 – Thin Brows
While bold, bushy brows have been popular for the last few years, there appears to be a shift to barely-there, thin brows this spring. This trend is all over TikTok with Y2K continuing to be popular and will make you think that you’ve flashed back to the 90s. Experts agree that although we will see thinner eyebrows, they won’t be as thin as we saw in the 90s. While the trend will be tighter and more structured than we’ve seen the last few years, there will still be a focus on adding texture throughout the brows. Makeup Trend #5 – Subtle Lips
While we may be seeing bold, neon colors for the eyes, bright colors are not making their way down to the lips. Instead, we are seeing more toned down lip colors this season. Think light pastel pink, nude, and peach – colors that just scream spring without being over-the-top. It’s a no-maintenance look that goes well with the other two trends mentioned above!
