Rihanna’s Burgundy Vampy Lip at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show took place last Wednesday at New York’s Lexington Armory and, as usual, it was a big night in fashion as the world’s most beautiful women in the world strutted the runway scantily clad in elaborate costumes with themes such as Circus, Calendar Girls and Native American chiefs.

The show doesn’t air until December 4th on CBS, but we thought we’d give you a sneak peak into the makeup behind the “sexiest night in television”.

As usual, the makeup at the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Winter Fashion show was kept very natural, with emphasis on the models’ glowing skin and bronze bodies. And why not? The Victoria’s secret supermodels are so stunning that they actually look better without much makeup. Besides, I highly doubt the attraction to them is their perfectly applied makeup (especially when they’re cat walking down the runway in a bra and panties). Right? Even us gals can’t help but stare.

In fact, I thought Rihanna stole the show for her old Hollywood style Glamour look on the red carpet. Her hair was done in finger waves and paired with an edgy, gothic-inspired vampy lip that was the perfect accent to her dark complexion.

Rihanna’s dark vampy lip is the perfect shade to complement her finger waves and old Hollywood glamour look.

For me the vampy lip trend takes me back to the late 90’s, when models like Cindy Crawford and Kathy Ireland wore the wine stained shade. It’s a dark and sexy color that’s a bit daring. The vampy lip trend is is certainly not for everyone – Here are our best lipsticks to create a vampy lip that works well with your own skin tone!

Revlon’s ColorBurst Lipstick in Plum: This is the go-to shade for those a little less daring, and it works well on all skin types. This lipstick is the perfect combination of burgundy, purple, and plum with a creamy texture. It’s great for those who want to try the trend but don’t want something too dark.

Bobbi Brown’s Black Velvet Collection in Black Cherry: A subtle take on the vampy lip. This shiny, lightweight lip color looks great on blondes and those with pale skin.

MAC’s Diva: A beautiful, deep wine shade of lipstick that looks elegant and classy. It has a matte finish and suits many different skin tones. Pair it with a slightly darker shade of lipliner for the ultimate vampy lip.

Rimmell Lasting Lipstick in Kate 04: Wear this for a dark, gothic lippie that will surely turn heads. This shade has light-reflecting power adding depth to every pout so that you ooze the same confidence and impact on entry as Kate Moss.

Would you dare to try this vampire-esque lip color?

Rihanna Uses Skindinavia To Keep Her Vampy Lip From Smudging

Skindinavia works well with your favorite makeup brands and is compatible with any skin type. It greatly extends makeup wear, maintains color and prevents makeup from slipping, melting and creasing, which is exactly what you need to pull of the vampy lipstick look. Just think about it – if celebrities like Rihanna, Madonna and Lady Gaga can keep their over-the-top performance makeup in place while dancing and sweating on stage, it will work for anyone for any big night out.
